Meet a 35-year-old woman named Nandego

Nandego Lydia has a resident of Bubito Zone, Kamuli District. Lives in a crumbling house at the ends of a narrow dirty road.

Lydia is a single abandoned mother raising three children, two girls and one boy each under the age of ten.
Their house once filled with laughter and hope before the father abandoned them five years ago. Now echoes with the creaks of age and neglect.

Lydia is determined to create a home for her children. She fills it with stories, dreams, and the occasional spark of joy.

With each day that passes, Lydia finds ways to make ends meet. She does casual work i.e. digging gardens for others with her children, using the money to buy essentials, fees and the occasional treat. In that moment, the house felt less like a prison and more like a refuge.

They are together, and that is all that matters. This unity gave Visionary African Child Organization (VACO) the strength to extend support to this family.

Last year the children received school packages. VACO is planning to train this family in hands-on skills. These skills can help them with fees payments and family needs. Join VACO and support the abandoned family with $140 for conducting training and start up.
